SUMMER ACADEMY 2011

The history of Sommarakademin

The Summer Academy started as a result of collaboration between Lidingö and the Lutheran Church in East Germany (former GDR).
This co-operation extends in time from the mid 70th until today. Initially, students could do training in parish work in the GDR. In the mid 80's an exchange between teachers started, where teachers from Lidingö and Sigtuna “Folkhögskolor” met with colleagues in deacon-  and religious  education from DDR.

After "Die Wende", the co-operation mainly was based in the "Spielmarkt Potsdam", a play and game show held annually in early May.
This exhibition was continued in the first Summer Academy 2003 (theme: Learning through embodiment). In 2007 it was time for the second Summer Academy (theme: Balance in Motion)

This year the third Summer Academy is held with the theme: The pedagogical space in between, it is an international conference, with English as the main language.
